Getting Started with Psalmlog

Getting Started with Psalmlog

Welcome to Psalmlog! Whether you've been journaling for years or this is your very first time putting your thoughts on paper, you're in the right place. Let's walk through everything you need to go from first visit to your first piece of personalized, Scripture-based guidance.

1. Try It Before You Sign Up

You don't need an account to experience Psalmlog. Guest mode lets you try one free entry with no signup required.

  1. Visit psalmlog.com in your browser.
  2. Choose a journal category that fits what's on your heart (such as gratitude, worry, relationships, or direction).
  3. Reflect on what you're feeling, then tap Submit.
  4. Receive instant, personalized Scripture-based guidance built around what you shared.

That's it — no email address, no password, no commitment. Your guest entry is saved in your browser session so you can revisit it, and it'll be waiting for you if you decide to create an account.

2. Create Your Account

When you're ready for more, signing up takes less than a minute. You can create an account using:

  • Google — one tap on web or mobile
  • Apple — available on the mobile app (iOS and Android)
  • Email + password — your password must meet minimum security requirements shown on the signup screen

New accounts start on the Free plan, which gives you 3 journal entries and web-only access. If you'd like more, you can upgrade to Seeker, Faith Builder, or Shepherd — and every paid plan comes with a 7-day free trial so you can explore risk-free.

3. Complete Your Welcome Survey

Right after you sign up, you'll walk through a quick 4-step survey. This helps Psalmlog understand you better so your guidance feels personal from day one.

  1. How did you discover Psalmlog? — Helps us know where our community is growing.
  2. Age range — So guidance is relatable to your stage of life.
  3. Faith journey stage — Whether you're exploring, growing, or deeply rooted, Psalmlog meets you where you are.
  4. Choose up to 2 goals — What do you hope to get out of journaling? (Examples: finding peace, building consistency, growing in faith.)

The survey only takes a moment, and you can always update your preferences later in your Profile.

4. Write Your First Entry

Now for the good part. Here's how to create your first journal session:

  1. On the web, click the New Entry button in the top navigation. On mobile, tap the + button (the center floating action button).
  2. Pick a category that matches what you'd like to reflect on.
  3. Write what's on your heart. There's no right or wrong way to do this — a few sentences is plenty, or write as much as you need.
  4. Tap Submit and receive your personalized, 6-point Scripture-based guidance.

Take your time with the guidance you receive. Each section is designed to meet you right where you are — from emotional support to practical next steps grounded in Scripture.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Psalmlog

Be honest. The more openly you reflect, the more meaningful your guidance will be. Psalmlog is a safe, private space — write what's really on your heart.

Start small. Even a few sentences can lead to powerful Scripture connections. You don't need to write an essay.

Come back tomorrow. Journaling is most powerful as a habit. Try to reflect at the same time each day — morning, lunch break, or before bed.
