Managing Your Subscription
Managing Your Subscription

Where Subscriptions Are Managed
All billing happens on the web at app.psalmlog.com — there are no in-app purchases. If you tap an upgrade option in the mobile app, it opens your browser to complete checkout, and your new plan syncs back to the app automatically.
Viewing Your Plan Status
- Go to your Profile page.
- Find the Subscription section.
You'll see your current tier, billing cycle, subscription status (active, trialing, or canceled), and your next billing date.
Opening the Billing Portal
To make changes, choose Manage Subscription in the Subscription section of your Profile. This opens the secure Stripe billing portal, where you can upgrade, downgrade, switch billing cycles, cancel, or update your payment method.
Upgrading Your Tier
Upgrades take effect immediately — you'll have your new features right away. They're prorated, so you only pay the difference for the remainder of your current billing cycle.
Downgrading Your Tier
Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep your current tier's features until then, and your plan switches automatically when the new cycle starts.
Switching Between Monthly and Annual
You can switch billing cycles through the Stripe portal. Annual plans save between 17% and 29% depending on the tier. When you switch to annual, you'll be charged the annual rate and your next billing date updates accordingly.
About the 7-Day Free Trial
Every paid tier starts with a 7-day free trial with full access to that tier's features. Cancel any time during the trial to avoid being charged.
Two things worth knowing:
- Trials are limited to one per 90-day period. If you subscribe again inside that window, your subscription starts without a trial.
- Exports unlock when your trial converts. If you need to export sooner, you can end your trial early and start your subscription immediately.
If a Payment Fails
If your card is declined on a renewal, you'll see a banner in the app: "Your payment didn't go through." Choose Update Payment Method to open the billing portal and add a working card.
While your account is in this state, some features are paused — exports are unavailable until the payment succeeds. Once it does, everything returns automatically. Your entries are never affected by a payment issue.
Canceling Your Subscription
You can cancel at any time with no cancellation fees.
- Go to Profile → Subscription → Manage Subscription.
- Select Cancel plan in the Stripe billing portal.
You'll keep all your current features through the end of your billing period, after which your account reverts to the Free plan.
Your data is safe. All your sessions and guidance are preserved when you cancel. You don't lose anything — you'll simply have Free plan access until you choose to subscribe again. If you'd like a copy of everything first, download a journal backup before your access ends.
Updating Your Payment Method
Open the Stripe billing portal from Profile → Subscription → Manage Subscription. From there you can add a new card, remove an old one, or change your default payment method.
Tips
- Check your plan status any time from the Subscription section on your Profile page.
- Consider annual billing if you plan to use Psalmlog long-term — the savings are meaningful.
- Upgrading? Don't worry about timing. Prorated billing means you only pay for what you use.
- Export before you cancel. Your entries stay safe either way, but exports need an active paid plan.
